Royal Castle Child Development Center opened in 1996 and has grown from a small day care center to a vibrant, well-respected institution accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and top-rated by the State of Louisiana Quality Start Child Care Rating System.

Royal Castle provides high quality education and care in a positive, nurturing environment, centered on the development of infants, toddlers and preschool-aged children from a variety of racial and socio-economic backgrounds. To do so, Royal Castle feeds the mind, body, and spirit of the children they serve through the provision of quality care, education, physical activity, and healthy food in a loving, nurturing, and cheerful environment.

The Children

Royal Castle accepts children from 6 weeks of age to 5 years (pre-kindergarten) and is licensed to serve 100 children at a time. The class levels are Infant I and II, Transitional, Toddler I and II, and Pre-K. Children are split into classes based primarily on chronological age, but strengths, interests and special needs are also considered when appropriate. Royal Castle attempts to keep infants with the same primary caregiver for 15-16 months or until they transition to the “young toddler room”. Emphasis is on progressive development individualized to a child’s interests and abilities. Low student-teacher ratios provide personal attention for each child.

Family Involvement

By focusing on a holistic approach to education and care that encourages parental involvement and educates the entire family, Royal Castle helps children and families achieve long-term success. Consequently, we not only focus on the child’s development, but also on assisting the development of parents to start them on a path of continued involvement in their children’s education at home and in school. By building the family unit, Royal Castle ensures that every Royal Castle Kids obtains the educational foundation and learning start that they deserve. Royal Castle maintains a Parent Resource Center, providing educational materials for parents and information about programs and services available to their children from various sources.
